Religious and Other Faith-Based Nonprofits:

Tax, Accounting and Management Tips

Friday, August 20th

ASCPA Office - Montgomery

You asked for it and we are brining it to you for the first time! There are more than two million nonprofit organizations operating in the United States today. A large percentage of those are religious, religious-affiliated, or based to some degree upon principles of faith. In some respects these nonprofits are like most other nonprofits. Religious and other faith-based nonprofits do have some truly unique characteristics, however, and they affect tax, accounting, and management issues. This course takes a look at all three areas from the standpoint of managing compliance with laws and regulations, consistency and transparency of financial reporting, and managing for efficiency and mission effectiveness

What a Graduate Needs to Know

What a Graduate Needs to Know
Are you graduating or do you know someone who is graduating this May? Graduating and transitioning to a career is exciting, but can also be a challenging time. There are things you can do to prepare yourself for the transition and to help alleviate potential confusion or unease.

  • If you are entering the workforce, make sure you evaluate a job offer thoroughly before accepting it. You should consider all aspects of the position, such as if you would need to travel, what benefits are offered, whether the salary is sufficient and whether you would need to relocate.
  • According to the National Center for Education Statistics, over 50 percent of full-time undergraduates will finish school with student loans. If you are one of those students or are taking out loans for graduate school, make sure that you understand your repayment options.
