ASCPA Revamps the Blogs |
The Office
We have taken a different approach to the world of blogging, one that allows you to share your thoughts and information as if we're all in one big building. "The Office" has everything you would expect to find as you walk into a place of business: a Conference Room, a Water Cooler, a Cubicle, and even some folks with their minds on Happy Hour! In a world where "it's not official until it's on Facebook", "The Office" is the place to be!
Come see what’s going on today and join the discussion: alsocietyofcpas.wordpress.com.

Legislative e-Zine |
Legislative e-Zine
by Bruce P. Ely, James E. Long, Jr., William T. Thistle, II
The Senate capped off a productive week last week by sending two tax measures that we have discussed in recent weeks to the Governor's Office, HB 260 and HB 504, which are both summarized below. Both houses continued work on the budgets: the Education Trust Fund budget was sent to the Governor last week and the Senate is expected to debate the General Fund budget this Tuesday. The House Government Appropriations Committee approved the $1 billion "road bill", which along with the bingo proposal (SB 380), is expected to be debated by the House during the last few meeting days of this session. The Legislature announced its final four meeting days of the session, and will adjourn Thursday, April 22.
If you have any questions about a particular bill discussed below or in prior columns, you should review the full text. It will be posted on our firm's website for your easy access, by clicking here. Also, a detailed listing of the bill's sponsors, along with its fiscal note (i.e., whether and how much revenue the bill is projected to raise or to cost the State), and its progress through each house can be found on the Legislature's official website, called ALISON.
